For our full response to this question, please refer to our Protocols and Procedures document. We will be using a robust contact tracing initiative taking advantage of our ability to understand student, faculty, and staff movement throughout the school day. If an individual in our community is identified to have a lab-confirmed case of COVID-19, any member who experienced close contact as laid out in our Protocols and Procedures document will receive a notification with next steps. Community members who shared the same space as the individual but were not in close contact will receive a courtesy notification, and the broader school community will be notified whenever a student, faculty, or staff were on campus when contageous with a lab-confirmed case of COVID-19.
Students participating in the remote learning program will do so for the duration of the first quarter. Remote learning will be synchronous instruction with a webcam in the classroom and ability to participate remotely. We will send a selection form leading up to the second half of the semester for families to choose their education option for the second quarter.
When students are engaged in remote learning, whether they are an in-person student away from on-campus instruction for a period of time or a full-time remote learner, they will not have the ability to participate in in-person extracurriculars on days in which they were at home. Our decision precluding remote learning students from on-campus activity is out of respect for the wishes of families to limit their contact in the school environment. If a student and family do not wish to have their student on campus during the school day, then it stands that the added contact they receive in athletics activities or other on-campus event would be counter to the benefits of staying home during the school day. From our perspective this is in no way meant to be a punitive action, it is instead in place to support those families who wish to have their students off-campus. We will be working very hard to maintain the sense of community at Frassati Catholic regardless of the education option a family chooses. The remote option is still open to students remotely participating in our Student Ambassador program, club meetings and other remote participation events at Frassati Catholic.
Frassati Catholic will continue the practice of daily in-depth disinfection of campus by Church Sexton Group, our sanitization vendor. Additionally, common spaces and classrooms will be sanitized following each use during the day. The school has also purchased an electrostatic fogger machine - a device that allows for complete disinfection of non-porous surfaces in just a few short minutes.
If suspected/confirmed COVID-19 cases exceed 10% of total enrollment and employees, the campus will close for at least two days. If the closure is longer than two days, students will move to remote synchronous learning.
Yes, our remote learning program will be available for in-person students in the event they are ill and need to stay home from campus. We encourage these students and their families to operate with an abundance of caution, staying home whenever the student feels ill. Unrestricted access to remote learning will allow students needing to stay at home to seamlessly continue their education.
We will have a staggered arrival on campus with two primary entry points from which students can check-in. As in the past, students may arrive as early as 7:00 a.m.
Student Drivers: Student drivers will enter through the door leading from the student parking lot to the athletics hallway where they will have their temperature taken and will be asked to use hand sanitizer. If a temperature reading is at or above 100.0 degrees, the student will be moved to a holding area and will be rechecked. If the student’s temperature remains at 100.0 degrees or higher, that student will proceed to their vehicle and go home or must go to the fine arts patio and await pickup.
Parent/Carpool Dropoff: We ask that parents dropping off students stay in the parking lot for a few moments in the event their student has a temperature of 100.0 degrees or higher. Students who do not drive themselves should be dropped off at the main front doors of the Student Life Building. Upon arrival, they follow the same screening procedures outlined above.
Students will gather in the gym after being dropped off and chairs will be arranged so that 6-foot social distancing will be observed. Late arrivals will enter through the main doors of the academic building.
More detailed information on the Arrival process can be found in our Protocols and Procedures document.
We will allow students to use their backpacks or totes throughout the day to carry books, materials, and supplies. This will help reduce trips to lockers. Students will have the ability to access their lockers four times: before school, before and after lunch, and after school. Lockers will be spaced to assist us in staggered arrival, and transition procedures. Please refer to the Protocols and Procedures document for more information.

The passing period between 1st/2nd period and 3rd/4th period is extended to 15 minutes. This will allow for a staggered dismissal from class, time to sanitize desks, time for teacher prep, and a staggered return to the next class. The lunch period is a total of 55 minutes, which includes a staggered dismissal to lockers, lunch, and a staggered return to lockers before 3rd period begins. Dismissal at the end of the day will also be staggered to reduce the number of students in the hallways.
More detailed information about transitions can be found in the Protocols and Procedures document.
We will utilize the full gym, assembly hall, and outdoors to help us provide at least six feet spacing between students, and assist in our contact tracing efforts. We will have designated spaces for students to eat during the lunch period, and classroom spaces will also become available in the event of inclement weather. More information can be found in our Protocols and Procedures document.
