Fine Arts Department Chair Dr. Lindsay Medina authored a featured article in the February edition of the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) Southwestern Musician Magazine. The magazine is distributed to the more than 11,000 school music educator members of the TMEA, one of the largest organizations of its kind in the United States. Dr. Medina's article is a resource for choral directors, helping them cultivate undeveloped and underdeveloped vocalists in their choirs. Dr. Medina is an expert in vocal pedagogy, having received her Doctor of Music degree from the prestigious Indiana University Jacobs School of Music.
We are excited to introduce our new Capital Campaign Director, Mr. Joe Biondi. Mr. Biondi is a dynamic new addition to the Frassati Catholic staff and brings a wealth of experience in media, advertising, promotion, and more, and is the father of Sophia Biondi '18. In the coming weeks he will be welcoming contact with any member of the Frassati Catholic community to talk about our future and the next steps for the Moving Forward in Faith Capital Campaign.
Frassati Catholic alumnus Pablo Boada '18 was recognized as an Academic All-American by the United States Collegiate Athletic Association. Boada was honored as one of 16 student athletes from Christendom College who were selected as Academic All-Americans. Student athletes become eligible for the award by completing a minimum 30-credit hour course load and maintaining a 3.5 GPA or higher, all while playing a varsity sport. Boada is a member of the Christendom College Soccer team and a former member of the Crusaders National Championship Runner-Up Rugby team.
The Frassati Catholic Varsity Baseball team had a strong outing Monday with a win over Pasadena First Baptist Christian Academy to start the season 1-1. The team got their bats going, and Riley Amador, who was celebrating his 16th birthday, along with Chris Perry helped lead the way. Reid Wing provided solid pitching and the Falcons came away with a 4-2 victory.
The Frassati Catholic Girls Swim team took second place in the February 6, 2020 TAPPS Division II State Championships, the highest team placement yet for the emerging swim powerhouse. Frassati Catholic swimmers brought home twelve medals overall at the event, including four golds, six silver, and two bronze to cap off an incredibly successful day at the Josh Davis Natatorium in San Antonio, TX.
On National Signing Day 2020, Wednesday, February 4, two Frassati Catholic student athletes signed to continue playing sports at the collegiate level. Kathryn O’Brien, a senior volleyball player, signed to play at Franciscan University of Steubenville, and Jerel Resurreccion, a senior football player, signed to play at Trinity International University. O’Brien and Resurreccion join Aislynn Shore, a senior volleyball commit to Texas A&M University-Commerce, as the first three students from the class of 2020 to officially sign to play sports in college.
The Frassati Catholic Government and Debate Club attended the Youth In Government State Conference on Saturday, February 1, in Austin, Texas. Four Frassati Catholic students were honored as Top Delegates, a group of just over a dozen award recipients chosen from the nearly 200 students in attendance at the conference.
