April 15, 2020 is a National Signing Day for students who intend to continue their athletics careers at the collegiate level, and Frassati Catholic has three student-athletes signing letters of intent. Ariana Dale signed to continue her soccer career at Ave Maria University. Lauren Lacson signed to join the swim team at Birmingham-Southern College. And Edwin Rice signed to play football at University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. All three athletes had distinguished careers a Frassati Catholic, and they join Kathryn O’Brien, Jerel Resurreccion, and Aislynn Shore as members of the class of 2020 who will play at the collegiate level.
Ariana Dale played soccer at Frassati Catholic for four years, excelling as the team’s goalkeeper. She earned Second Team All-District honors in 2018 and 2020, All-District Honorable Mention in 2019, and was selected to the Academic All-State team as a senior. She earned the Falcon Award for Varsity Girls Soccer as a senior in 2020, and Varsity Softball, as a founding member of that team in 2017. She has earned the Four Year Falcon Award for Soccer, and the Founding Athlete Award for Softball. Dale was awarded athletic and academic scholarships by Ave Maria University.
Lauren Lacson swam for Frassati Catholic for two seasons, where she became one of the most decorated athletes in Falcons Athletics history. She helped her team bring home top finishes at the Regional meets both seasons, and third and second place finishes at the 2019 and 2020 State meets respectively. As a junior, Lauren won gold in the 200 medley relay, 200 IM, and 100 breaststroke, and silver in the 200 free relay at the State Swim meet. As a senior, Lauren won gold in the 200 free relay, silver in the 200 medley relay and 100 breaststroke, and bronze in the 200 IM at the State Swim meet. Lacson was named TAPPS Regional Swimmer of the Meet in 2020, and earned spots on the TAPPS All-State and Academic All-State team in 2019 and 2020.
Edwin Rice played football for Frassati Catholic for four years, and held a crucial role in the growth of the football program. In 2018, he was on the first Frassati Catholic football team to compete in TAPPS district play, which included the first program win. Rice was recognized by the Touchdown Club of Houston as a selection to their 2019 All-Greater Houston Private High School team. He was recognized as one of Dave Campbell’s Texas Football “Players to Watch 2019” and earned the United States Marine Corps Distinguished Athlete Award. Rice was named a TAPPS Player of the Week in 2019, and earned a spot on the TAPPS Second Team All-District for his role as an Offensive Lineman. He also earned the Four Year Falcon Award for Football.
