Sister John Paul, O.P., of Frassati Catholic High School announced today that Anna Lackner and Ashlyn Miller have been named Finalists in the 2022 National Merit Scholarship Program. Lackner and Miller become the second and third Frassati Catholic students to ever be recognized with this outstanding achievement.
About 15,000 Finalists throughout the nation are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. This achievement paces them among the top 1% of more than 1.5 million students who entered the 2022 competition by taking the 2020 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®). As Finalists Lackner and Miller will now move on the final round of the awards, the Winner Selection. The organization will ultimately choose approximately 7,500 Finalists to receive a Merit Scholarship® award.
“Those being named Finalists have demonstrated outstanding potential for academic success,” commented a spokesperson for NMSC. “These students represent a valuable national resource; recognizing their accomplishments, as well as the key role their schools play in their academic development, is vital to the advancement of educational excellence in our nation. We hope that this recognition will help broaden their educational opportunities and encourage them as they continue their pursuit of academic success.”
Overall, Frassati Catholic had six seniors recognized as National Merit Scholars, Lackner and Miller as Finalists, and Avery Kemp, Katharine Liepman, Paul Eisterhold, and Kevin Spartz, who were recognized as Commended Scholars.
