March 18 Updates

It is Day 3 of Frassati Online and we want to thank everyone for their patience and flexibility as we work to settle into a new teaching and learning routine. We are hopeful that our continuity of instruction provides an element of stability for our students in this evolving cultural climate. In keeping with our commitment to regular community updates, here is the latest from Frassati Catholic:

• With the recent announcement from the Archdiocese that public Masses are to be suspended until further notice, we want to help your family keep the Lord's day as you continue to celebrate Sunday Mass. Read this letter for more information.
• We will be rescheduling the Seventh Annual Golf Tournament to the fall of 2020. Our staff and administration would like to thank our current registrants and sponsors for their generosity in helping ensure the success of the 2020 golf tournament. While it is disappointing to move this event, we are thankful for the support of those who have already committed to joining us and look forward to hosting this event in the fall. More details will be shared soon.
• Given the closure of our campus, our Junior and Senior Retreats, as well as the Junior Class Pin Mass will not take place on their originally scheduled dates. Please know that we intend to reschedule all these events and will relay details as soon as they become available.
• Just a reminder that we will require parental permission for your students to be recorded as a part of any Google Hangout Meet video session. You'll find the permission form here. Please complete, scan and email this permission form to Mrs. Reynolds as soon as possible. For those without a scanner at home, there are a number of free apps that will allow you to use your phone to scan documents, including CamScanner.
• Don't forget that course selections are due this Friday, March 20 for 10-12 graders in the 2020-2021 Academic Year. Hard copies can be scanned and emailed to Mrs. Reynolds. Please ensure students have circled any courses on the front of the form if they are able to choose which course they want to take. The electives need to be ranked on the back, and please do not rank anything you have already taken unless it is study hall or a class that can be taken more than once.
• For students who are taking AP courses next year, you'll need to complete the AP Policy Form. For students who are requesting to take more than two AP courses next year (this includes elective classes), you'll need to also complete the Request for Exception to AP Policy Form. You can download the AP Policy Form here, and the Request for Exception to AP Policy Form here. When complete, these forms can be emailed directly to Mrs. Reynolds at a.reynolds@frassaticatholic.org.
• At this time, the College Board is releasing more information on March 20 about the administration of AP exams.  Mrs. Reynolds will let us know about updates as she receives them.  For now, this is the most recent communique from them:

  March 16, 2020

  The AP Program is developing resources to help schools support student learning during extended closures, as well as a solution that would allow students to test at home, depending on the situation in May. Additional information will be posted by March 20.

  We will announce portfolio submission deadline extensions for AP 2-D Art and Design, 3-D Art and Design, Computer Science Principles, Drawing, Research, and Seminar courses by March 20. Schools do not need to call AP Services for Educators to request these extensions.

• We are certainly hopeful that we will be back at school and ready for exams in May.  Regarding senior exemption criteria, the attendance component will be considered through March 6.  Attendance after that date will not be factored into the senior exemption consideration.  If you have any questions about your child's attendance record with regard to senior exemptions, please contact Dr. Cody Medina at [email protected].
• Our student's email addresses have been activated to receive messages from our staff and faculty, and we will now be sending students all Monday, Wednesday, and Friday communications updates, along with our regular Friday Newsletter.
