Frassati Catholic High School’s new gymnasium/fine arts building continues to take shape, as workers have erected the frame, begun the exterior walls, and completed two new school parking lots.
Construction workers poured the first slab of concrete for the foundation of the gymnasium/fine arts building in early July, and have since erected the main frame. Workers have plans to complete construction of the building and the campus access road by December.
Frassati Catholic High School was established in 2013 thanks to the support of more than 1,000 benefactors who saw the need for a Catholic high school on the north side of Houston. The construction of the gymnasium/fine arts building is part of Phase 1B of the school’s Master Plan, and is another step toward realizing the school’s vision to support a campus of 800 – 1,000 students. The school will welcome more than 70 new students for the 2015-16 academic year, its largest class ever. To accommodate this growth, the campus is also expanding.
The 54,000-square-foot gymnasium/fine arts building will feature a 17,000-square-foot gymnasium with two volleyball/basketball courts where games or practices can be held simultaneously. The space also can be converted into a competition gym with seating for up to 1,000 fans. The facility will feature an assembly hall that will seat 400 and be used for fine arts performances and student assemblies, and fine arts space that will be dedicated to the performing arts and the visual arts. Locker rooms, training and weight rooms, a team meeting room, coaches’ offices, and a concession stand will also be included.
