The Frassati Catholic Government and Debate club performed spectacularly at the 2019 Youth and Government State Conference in Austin, Texas January 24-27. Three groups passed policy proposals to the 2nd round of the conference and Patrick Weisbrod made club history with the first proposal to make General Assembly. Eliana Cordova sponsored two bills as Frassati Catholic’s first Youth Senator and Adam Sucy won top delegate.
Youth and Government is a national program of the YMCA that involves thousands of teens nationwide in state-organized, model-government programs. Teens from across each state meet in their local Youth and Government groups throughout the year to discuss and debate issues that affect citizens of their state and to propose legislation. The program culminates with teens serving as delegates at their state conference, debating bills on the floor of the legislature.
