The current state of COVID-19 in our area is something the Administrative Team is actively monitoring - both through information gathered from health professionals and the Harris County Health Department, and through the trends being observed in our school community. The decision to continue with a mask optional policy at this time relies on individuals in the community taking prudent measures to stay healthy, some of which were outlined in last week's newsletter and
on the COVID-19 page of our website. With that said, we are seeing positive cases in our school community and fully expect that there will continue to be positive cases on a regular basis going forward due to the prevalence of the Delta variant in areas where our families live and work.
A key driver in our ongoing assessment of the situation is determining the source of positive cases at Frassati Catholic - i.e. whether they are a product of on-campus community spread, or can be attributed to contacts outside of the school environment. While all information on positive cases in our community remains confidential we can share that to date, no cases can be attributed to community spread on our campus. Our current mask optional policy is based on this ongoing assessment and has the support of the Frassati Catholic Board of Trustees. Should we begin to see a marked change in the way the virus is spreading between students, staff, and faculty while on campus we do intend to introduce mitigation efforts to reduce community spread. These could include temporary masking while on campus to allow time for brief reset periods. Communication is paramount while navigating this situation, and the Administrative Team will continue to regularly update the community.
So far, we have been very pleased with the personal responsibility taken by our families. To that end, if your student becomes ill please notify us as soon as possible by contacting Dr. Cody Medina at 832-616-3231 or
[email protected]. We encourage everyone to always err on the side of caution by keeping students home when they are sick. More information and FAQs on our current policies can be
found on our website.
