Construction began in early March on Frassati Catholic High School’s
new gymnasium/fine arts building on the north side of the school’s campus.
The 54,000-square-foot gymnasium/fine arts building will feature a 17,000-square-foot gymnasium with two volleyball/basketball courts where games or practices can be held simultaneously. The space also can be converted into a competition gym with seating for up to 1,000 fans. The facility will feature an assembly hall that will seat 400 and be used for fine arts performances and student assemblies, and fine arts space that will be dedicated to the performing arts and the visual arts. Locker rooms, training and weight rooms, a team meeting room, coaches’ offices, and a concession stand will also be included.
“This facility will give our students the opportunity to develop into virtuous athletes much like our patron, Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati, and will provide resources that will help them to reach their full potential,” said Director of Athletics, Chris Meredith. “The building will become the hub of our community outside of the classroom, and is a huge step in the growth of student life, the school culture, and school spirit.”
Frassati Catholic High School was established in 2013 thanks to the support of more than 1,000 benefactors who saw the need for a Catholic high school on the north side of Houston. The construction of the gymnasium/fine arts building is another step toward realizing the school’s vision.
“We’re now seeing what is possible thanks to the dedication of our many generous donors,” said Capital Campaign Coordinator, Nell Schell. “We are abundantly blessed and fortunate that our benefactors have chosen to help found Frassati Catholic High School. While we’ve reached another milestone with the construction of this building, we continue to work to build this high school, and we ask for continued prayers for our future success and fundraising efforts.”
