For the first time in program history, the girls soccer team advanced to the postseason with a 7-5 district record (9-8 overall). The team, led by captains Irma Briz (Honorable Mention All-District), Sophia Biondi (2nd team All-District), and Jennelle Edlin (Honorable Mention All-District), along with goalkeeper Ariana Dale '20 (2nd team All-District), scored 39 goals in all competitions, led by Annie Abrams '21 with 21 goals and Biondi with 14.
Head Coach Julian Marino, in his second season, was extremely proud of the team's growth this season.
"We improved a lot compared to last season," Marino said. "Technically all players improved during the games and they were much better with their self confidence when we competed against the stronger programs in the district."
The Falcons traveled to Austin, TX on Monday, Feb. 12 for the opening round playoff game against Brentwood Christian. While the Falcons fell 7-1, it was still a season to remember.

This year the team's goal was to make the postseason. Check. Next year, Marino and the team are setting their sights on a deep run in the TAPPS tournament.
"Last year, in the first year of the program, we made it our goal to learn more about the game and improve as individuals and as a team; this year, we set a target on the postseason and we made it; now, we are planning to go deeper into the tournament if we can next season."
In back-to-back seasons, the Falcons Boys Soccer team qualified for the TAPPS postseason tournament. Led by captains Jonathen de Aragao (1st team All-District), Pablo Boada (2nd team All-District), and Mark Hill, the Falcons fought back after losing the first five district games of the season. The Falcons went 4-3 down the stretch to qualify for the postseason.
"I'm so proud of the boys and the resilence they showed this season," said Head Coach Kyle Smith. "To drop so many games consecutively early on was certainly discouraging, but we didn't let it define us. We kept working and that hard work began to pay off as we played teams a second time. Our four wins came against four different teams that we had previously lost to. That to me demonstrates how this team continued to fight despite our early struggles."
The team traveled to San Marcos, TX, on Saturday, Feb. 10 to face San Marcos Academy in the first round of the TAPPS playoffs, falling 3-0.
"We played a strong San Marcos team and ultimately couldn't generate the chances we wanted," said Smith. "It was tough to fall in the first round, but it was a great experience for the younger players and still a great end to the careers of the seniors."
Seniors Carl Heinzler, Cameron Giill, Jonathen de Aragao, Pablo Boada, Joshua Edlin, and Mark Hill
Next season, as the district realigns, the team will compete as a 5A school in District VII of TAPPS.
"I think the future is really bright for this program," said Smith. "We lose six seniors, each of whom played a critical role this season. But we have a strong freshman class and some great leaders remaining on the team. It will always be our target to qualify for the playoffs, so we're looking forward to the challenge of playing some new teams in our district next season."
