One of the many benefits of living near the nation’s fourth largest city is the easy access to a world-class hub of arts and culture. Recently, Frassati Catholic faculty Dr. Melisa Palermo took her AP Art History students on a field trip to the University of St. Thomas and the Museum of Fine Art, Houston. Their mission? To observe and interact with some of the most extraordinary art and architecture Houston has to offer.
At the University of St. Thomas the students toured the Chapel of St. Basil, designed by famed architect Philip Johnson, followed by a visit to a replica of the labyrinth in Chartres cathedral.
The highlight of the Museum of Fine Arts was the Vincent van Gogh exhibit where they were also able to see works by famed artists such as Rembrandt, Velázquez, Tintoretto, Picasso, and Dalí.
Check out their amazing pictures below.
