Frassati Catholic World Language students participated in the Houston Area Teachers of Foreign Languages (HATFL), sponsored Farrington Contest at Northbrook High School on Saturday, April 6. The Farrington Contest, named in honor of Curtis Farrington, an original founder and first president of HATFL, allows greater-Houston area high school students studying languages other than English to compete in various categories. Frassati Catholic was represented by twelve students in two world language categories: Spanish and French.
Highlights in the Spanish contests included Hania Bautista, who took first place Advanced Heritage Speaker, Melanie Abdallah, fourth place Intermediate Heritage Speaker, and Mary Coleman, fifth place Level III Non-Native Speaker. Other participants in the Spanish contests included Isabella Knoepffler and Sarah Campos in the Intermediate Heritage Speaker category, Isabel Guzman and Antonio Moschella in the Advanced Heritage Speaker category and Morgan Martinez in the Level III Non-Native Speaker category.
In the French contests Frassati Catholic was represented by Gaby Yabut who took third place in Level II, Eva Farfan who placed second in Level III, and Federico Celis and Christian Del Valle who participated in Level I.
