Last week, the Frassati Catholic Varsity Volleyball team clinched the District Championship with wins over Second Baptist and Westbury Christian. The team will prepare for a Tuesday, October 29 Area Playoff game, opponent TBA, with a warm up game, Thursday, October 24 at Rosehill Christian Academy. Varsity Volleyball has been outstanding this season with wins over top-ranked TAPPS 6A and SPC level teams, and they have blown away the single season wins record going 34-5 to date.
The team is led by a strong core of seven seniors, and some standout underclassmen talent. Throughout the season, the team has had their sights set on the playoffs. Twice in the past, Frassati Catholic has won the District Championship, won their Area match, but lost in the Regional round. This year’s team is determined to break through and make it to the State tournament for the first time.
Falcons head coach Katie Hoff commented, “We had a team meeting early on in the preseason to set individual and team goals for the year. When I asked what they hoped to accomplish this season, their they said ‘we want to go to State,’ and that’s been our focus ever since.” Coach Hoff continued, “We’ve had some really tough matches this season that have prepared us well for what lies ahead, and this group works really well together and has put in the hard work to be in the position they are today.”
The area playoff game will be hosted at Frassati Catholic High School on Tuesday, October 29. Frassati Catholic will take on the winner of a bi-District match scheduled for later this week.
