On Tuesday evening, the Varsity Volleyball team won the TAPPS 5A Area Championship with a 3-1 win over the Eagles of Fort Bend Christian Academy. The team is now set to compete in the Regional Championship match this Saturday, November 2, against San Antonio Holy Cross, game location and timing TBA.The Falcons performed well in their Area Playoff, with especially strong games 3 and 4 to seal the championship and get a final win at home on the season. The Falcons have now added to their record-setting win total, moving to 36-5 on the season.
“Last night was a great start to our playoff run,” said Varsity Volleyball Coach Katie Hoff. “We came out a little flat in the first game, but made adjustments to get back on track. In games 3 and 4 we turned it on and were able to put away a tough team in Fort Bend Christian Academy. It was an emotional night for our seniors, who pulled out a win in their very last home game. We’re blessed to be able to spend the next couple days together in practice and continue playing the sport we love with this team. ”
Hoff said they are now setting their sights on the next match against San Antonio. “For the remainder of the week, we’ll be focusing on shoring up some fundamentals without forgetting that we’re out there to have fun. We continue to be focused on our goal for the season of breaking through and making it to the State tournament for the first time.”
