Three members of the Frassati Falcons Track & Field team advanced from TAPPS 2A South Regional Track Meet on April 30 in Cedar Creek, TX, and will compete at the TAPPS 2A State Championships at Baylor University on May 9. Cameron Gill (’18) won his heat in the 1600-meters and finished fourth in the 800-meters; Ashley Starnes (’18) finished in fourth place in the long jump; and Alex de la Maza (’18) placed third in the 3200-meters. The Falcons team finished in 10th place overall out of 21 competing teams.
The Falcons had several other strong individual performances. Matthew Meyer (’17) finished in sixth place in the discus; Cullen Miller (’18) finished in seventh place in the 3200-meters; Starnes finished in sixth place in the 100-meter hurdles; and Dani Rodriguez (’17) finished in seventh place in the 100-meter hurdles. The men’s 4x100 relay team made up of Sean Holmes (’19), Alec Bushong (’17), J.T. Payne (’17), and Broderick Hogan (’18) and the 4x400 team made up of Marc O’Hara (’18), Nicholas Young (’18), Josh Fake (’17), and Jack Ruffer (’18) turned in their best times of the year.
