The Frassati Falcons Track & Field team had a strong performance at the TAPPS District Meet on April 18, with 15 athletes qualifying for the TAPPS Regional Meet on April 25. The boys team finished second overall while the girls team placed fifth overall.
The Falcons had three first place finishers: Ashley Starnes in the girls 100-meter hurdles; Cameron Gill in the boys 1600-meters; and Alex de la Maza in the boys 3200-meters. The Falcons 4x100-meter relay team, made up of freshman Sean Holmes and Broderick Hogan, and sophomores Alec Bushong and J.T. Payne, finished in fourth place; the 4x400 meter relay team, made up of freshmen Marc O’Hara and Nicholas Young, and sophomores Josh Fake and Jack Ruffer, finished in third place.
The Falcons had a number of other strong performances: Dani Rodriguez finished third in the girls 100-meter hurdles; Matthew Meyer finished third in the Discus; Pablo Boada finished fourth in the 400-meters and third in the 300-meter hurdles; Cameron Gill finished third in the 800-meters; Alex de la Maza finished fourth in the 1600-meters; and Cullen Miller finished fourth in the 3200-meters. “Although we have a young team, our depth, combined with the effort that everyone put forth gave us a big advantage,” said Falcons Coach, Ralph Maddalena. “I’m very proud of our entire team for their achievements.”
The TAPPS Regional Meet will take place on April 30 at Bastrop Memorial Stadium in Cedar Creek, TX.
