The Frassati Catholic Golf team competed at the TAPPS 5A South Regional Tournament at Victoria Country Club in Victoria, TX on Tuesday, April 23. The Girls team became Regional Champions, finishing first place overall with two top-five individual placements, and Ethan Long from the Boys team finished in the top ten. All Frassati Catholic golfers who competed in the South Regional Tournament will advance to the TAPPS 5A State Tournament, and this will mark the third consecutive trip to the State Championships for the Girls team.
The Girls team has consistently finished in the top-three throughout the season, highlighted by a pair of first place finishes in the District 7 Tournament and South Regional Tournament. Assistant Athletic Director Katie Hoff commented, “This team is only getting stronger as the season progresses. It’s not only a testament to great individual performances but also the strength of team play.” That team effort combined with standout individual performances by Anna Claire Fincher, who finished first individually at the South Regionals, and Ellie Fincher, who finished fifth, have propelled this team to the State Championships for the third year in a row.
Senior Ethan Long of the Boys Team has been playing at a high level all season. “Ethan’s been a consistent, high-level golfer on our Boys team all four years,” says Hoff. “This year we really needed his leadership and he hasn’t disappointed. He’s been a player that others on the team can look up to and learn from. With his experience playing at the state level we’re really excited to see what he can do at the championships.”
The TAPPS 5A State Tournament will take place between April 29-30, at the Squaw Valley Golf Course in Glen Rose, TX.
