On August 11, the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston Catholic Schools Office mandated that Catholic schools require masks on their campuses beginning August 16. As an independent Catholic High School governed by a Board of Trustees, Frassati Catholic will remain mask optional at this time. An important distinction is that our mask optional policy both encourages and supports students and families who wish to wear a mask while on campus. If your family is more comfortable on campus wearing a mask please feel free to do so.
Our Administrative Team is in contact with the Harris County Public Health Department and health professionals, and we are actively monitoring cases in areas that affect our students and families. We ask that families continue to be diligent in mitigating the spread of COVID-19 and reiterate the request that everyone follow best practices for remaining safe and healthy. Our policies rely on students and families acting prudently: keeping students home when they do not feel well; staying home if they or a family member is ill with Covid-19 symptoms; staying home when someone at home or someone they have been in close contact with is positive for COVID-19; and/or staying at home while they or someone at home are being tested for COVID-19. Notifying the school in a timely manner when there is a suspected case is important in helping us continue to eliminate any potential spread on campus. We will stay in communication with our families about COVID-19, and will regularly keep the community informed of changes to the situation.
Additionally, we have updated our Protocols and Procedures FAQ document to include information about contingencies in the event there is COVID-19 spread in our community. Please view that document here or visit the COVID-19 page on our site.
