The Frassati Catholic boys soccer team received the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award after amassing a 3.45 grade point average during the 2016-17 academic year.
It's the first United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award in the history of the boys soccer program. To be eligible for the award, a team must have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale).
"We expect athletes in the soccer program and all of our athletics to maintain high standards academically," said Head Coach Kyle Smith. "This award is a testament to the hard work and organization of these young men. They have tremendous work ethics both on and off of the field, and they should be proud of earning this recognition."
A total of 333 soccer teams (118 boys, 215 girls) from throughout the United States have earned the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award for exemplary performance in the classroom as a team during the 2016-17 academic year.
