Part 2 of 2 of the seventh annual Verso L'alto Summit Awards Ceremony. The mission and vision of Frassati Catholic High School is embodied in our patron, Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati. The characteristics of his life serve as a model for our entire community. Therefore, our awards seek to recognize those students who have embraced these characteristics and made them their own. This article includes all students recognized during part 2.
Departmental Book Awards
Each academic department gives a Book Award to a senior who has consistently shown exceptional interest and appreciation for the subject matter of the department. Students demonstrate exceptional interest through studies, outstanding participation in class discussions, assisting others with the subject, joining related organizations, reading related books or articles and by encouraging others to do so. Salutatorian
Congratulations to Andres Cruz Maldonado, the Salutatorian for the Class of 2020. Andres has served the school as a Student Ambassador and as a sacristan for weekly all-school Masses. He was a member of the National Honor Society and was named a National Hispanic Scholar for the 2019-2020 school year by the College Board. He has served his community as a Boy Scout, team leader for Conquest, and President and member of Beta Club. Andres was also a pilgrim at the 2019 World Youth Day in Panama.
Valedictorian
Congratulations to Anna Claire Fincher, the Valedictorian for the Class of 2020. She has been active as a Student Ambassador for the last three years and was specifically an 8th grade shadow visit mentor this year. She was a member of the National Honor Society and helped students as a math tutor. She was recognized as a National Merit Commended Scholar this year for her outstanding academic achievement on the NMSQ/PSAT her junior year. Outside of the classroom, she excelled on the golf course winning two state championships and earning state runner-up accolades. She served her community by volunteering for Special Olympics, Mercy House, and the Montgomery and Houston Food Banks.
Leadership Award
This award is given to students in any grade who are committed to Frassati Catholic’s mission and who consistently act as leaders in the school. These are students who generously work to serve the common good of all by being positive in all ways, taking initiative, coordinating activities, and supporting the initiatives of others in the school.

Virtuous Athlete Award
The highest award given to senior athletes, the Virtuous Athlete Award recognizes one male and one female in the senior class who have excelled in athletics, encouraged teammates, demonstrated an outstanding work ethic, followed team and game rules, displayed leadership, and focused on what is best for the team rather than being focused on self.

Pier Giorgio Service Award
The Pier Giorgio Service Award recognizes one male and one female senior who have
demonstrated an attitude that service is a way of life. These seniors have fulfilled their
service requirements and have gone above and beyond the requirements. In addition, these
students have lived a life of service to the school community in many and varied ways. This
year, we have four students who are the recipients of the Pier Giorgio Service Award:

Man and Woman of the Beatitudes Awards
These are the highest awards given at Frassati Catholic High School. It is awarded to the
man and woman in the senior class who most closely resemble the five characteristics of
Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati. Recipients of this award must have been enrolled at Frassati
Catholic for at least three consecutive years.
