Capital Campaign FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions About the Capital Campaign

What is The A Foundation for the Future Capital Campaign?
A Foundation for the Future is the name of the campaign being conducted in our community in support of Frassati Catholic High School. The campaign will provide seed money to construct and start the high school.

Who will be asked to support the campaign?
The campaign is designed to include individuals, companies, and philanthropic organizations. Catholic families in the fifteen area parishes and the seven primary schools in the region are being asked to consider a sacrificial gift to the campaign. Area businesses, foundations and others who are interested in supporting Catholic education in the northern part of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston will also be approached.

Why should I pledge a gift?  Why can’t I write a check now and donate again each year if I am able?
Typically, more substantial commitments are possible through a 3 – 5 year pledge than with a one-time gift. We hope you will prayerfully consider making a multi-year pledge to the campaign to help Frassati Catholic meet its campaign goals. A donor may choose to pay monthly, quarterly, semi-annually, annually, or by a customized payment schedule. It is important to note that a pledge is not legally binding and can be changed.  One-time gifts are gratefully accepted as well and will also help Frassati Catholic meet its campaign goals.

Why is each donor asked to complete a letter of intent?
A donor is asked to complete a letter of intent (or pledge card) so that the gift may be appropriately recorded and acknowledged by Frassati Catholic High School. Donors are asked to sign a letter of intent as a good faith commitment, indicating they have agreed to the terms of the pledge indicated on the form. A letter of intent is not a legally binding document; however, it is important that the form be completely filled out and signed so the high school can maintain contact with the donor and is clear about the donor’s intent.

Why is an initial payment of 10% of the total pledge requested?  Is it required, and when do payments start?
The campaign seeks initial payments from donors to help with our immediate funding needs. Initial payments help with anticipated development and construction costs. Many donors actually prefer to begin their pledges immediately, many even giving more than 10%. Although we encourage an initial payment of 10%, the level of down payment can be tailored to suit the individual. The donor can select the starting time of the pledge payments. Payment reminders will be sent to donors based on the schedule selected.

Is my gift to the campaign tax deductible?
Yes, gifts are deductible to the full extent of the law. North Houston Catholic High School (commonly known as Frassati Catholic High School) received its 501(c)3 status in June 2009.  The Tax ID is 26-3051354.

What kinds of gifts are acceptable?
The campaign accepts gifts in the forms of cash, checks, credit cards, and stock transfers.  Automatic credit/debit charges can be established by contacting the high school’s Advancement office at 832.482.4032.

What about matching gifts?
Donors are strongly encouraged to inquire about their employers’ matching gift programs. Each program matches the amount of a donor's charitable gift, often doubling or even tripling the donation.  The company’s matching gift form should be completed and submitted along with the donor’s first pledge payment.

What happens if a donor is unable to fulfill a commitment to the campaign?
While we hope that all commitments are made with the intention of being fulfilled, a donor who becomes unable to fulfill a campaign commitment, even temporarily, is encouraged to contact the office to discuss it with the Director of Advancement.
